Central to this hermetic lineage is the pomegranate, a fruit imbued with symbolic significance in ancient mythology and ritual practices. Associated with the Eleusinian rites in Greece, the pomegranate represents the "fruit of life" and "fecundity," underscoring its importance in symbolizing vitality and fertility. This connection is further reinforced by the Cabiri, venerated deities in Ancient Greek religion, who are closely tied to the pomegranate. The Cabiri's association with secrecy and mystery is reflected in their connection to the pomegranate, highlighting the fruit's role in understanding the nature and practices of these deities.

Symbolism

Grapes, another key entity, exhibit a duality of symbolism. On one hand, they are linked to the false life and false light, associated with earthly temptation and the influence of the Adversary. This contrast with the pomegranate's symbolism of life and fertility serves to demonstrate the complexities of the human experience. On the other hand, grapes are also associated with the Solar Spirit, fermentation, and the Solar Fire, reflecting a connection to natural forces, transformation, and divine energy.

The sunflower, with its natural phenomenon of heliotropism, serves as a symbol of constant progress and spiritual enlightenment. Its connection to grapes, both of which are linked to the symbolism of the sun and life, highlights the sympathy of these figures and symbols. The mandrake, with its magical and medicinal significance, is identified with the mystic herb baaras, used for casting out demons. The mandrake's root shape, closely related to the human body, makes it a potent symbol, demonstrating the connections between human experience and the natural world.

Cyclical Patterns and Persecution

The Cyclopes, one-eyed giants in Greek mythology, symbolize the primal forces of nature and are often guardians of divine knowledge or secrets. Their connection to grapes, which represent the false life and false light, serves to highlight the complexities of human experience. The persecution of the Greeks, which led to the spread of the Eleusinian Mysteries to Rome and Britain, serves as a backdrop to the preservation of these symbolic elements.
